Marley Dias was fourteen when she made her first mark on history, that was in 2015. She founded the # 1000 BlackGirlBooks. This was a successful campaign which became an international movement to donate children’s books that featured black girls as the protagonist. The drive was launched November 2015 and with the power of social media it went viral. The goal was 1000 books, but Marley collected over 12,000 to date. She is also author of Marley Dias Gets it Done: And So Can You! Marley has spoken at the White House’s United State of Women alongside Michelle Obama and Oprah. She has also spoken at the Forbes Women’s Summit, the United Nation’s Girl Up, CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion and several other events. In 2018 Marley was recognized by TIME, as one of the 25 most influential teens.
