Day -462- My Daily Thoughts Haibun Journey — Shaming

Today I really wish public shaming was something that helped keep our elected leaders in line. Yes, I? know the idiot in chief never accepts anything that does not suit him, but ‘I’m talking about Hawley, Cruz and others in the house and senate that are going to vote against the certified election results.

There is on Senator that has backbone to stand up to trump, and that is Toomey. He stated that Hawley and Cruz’s efforts “directly undermines” the people’s right to elect their own leader.

These are some of the republican GOP lawmakers joining the fray: Sens. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Mike Braun (Ind.), Cruz (Texas), Steve Daines (Mont.), Ron Johnson (Wis.), John Kennedy (La.) and James Lankford (Okla.), as well as Sen.-elects Bill Hagerty (Tenn.), Cynthia Lummis (Wyo.), Roger Marshall (Kan.) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.). There are also 140 house members that deserve to be shown the door for this kind of stupidity. They are not as they say trying to uphold the sanctity of the election or stop the “alleged” voter fraud. They are trying to tap in to support from the trump base and get reelected. They do not care a flip about true democracy or safer elections. What they want is voter suppression, that helps them win. There have been at least 60 court case trump and his cronies have lost over their claims of election fraud, and the supreme court ruled, not once but twice, against trump and those ridiculous claims.

Under our laws once a state certifies its electoral vote its conclusive. The whole thing is an affront to the American people and our democratic process. It is clear we need new leadership and clear out those who falsely try to subvert the validity of our elections. We have always had a smooth transition of power. It’s one of the amazing things about our country.
