Day –170 — Haibun Journey Daily Thoughts — Ecumenical Services

Today we had another ecumenical lenten lunch service. I find these lunes very inspiring and they remind us that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ despite the different denominations. We can easily find things to agree about but I think the better position is for us to find joy in sharing and embrace our differences in worship. We are working our way through the beatitudes each week. This week the minister from Pleasantview Baptist gave a very good sermon on blessed are those who mourn. We had good food and good fellowship. In this age of political battles and fear of a pandemic it is good to be uplifted. I have found that we can worship and love those whose political and spiritual beliefs are different than our own. I think our so called president could learn a lot if he actually understood Jesus two main focuses, Love the lord your God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. He would also benefit , as would we all from John Wesley’s three simple rules “Do no harm, Do good, stay in love with God.”
