Day 147 –Night Pollinators- Haibun Journey Beauty Each Day

Today’s beauty came this evening. Five moonflowers were open in the garden. These beautiful white flowers look like morning glories on steroids. One fully opened flower is about my hand spread This is a highly fragrant plant and attracts sphinx moths who pollinate it. Seeing the flowers got me thinking of the mystery of insects, moths and bats that come out at night to drink from sweet smelling blossoms. It is amazing that as one set of flowers and insects bed down when the sun sets another group is taking over the night shift.
