Day 1184 — Scratchboard Art — Haibun Journey Beauty Each Day

Today’s beauty was seeing the international scratchboard art in Berea. This work is cut with an exacto into a black painted clay board. To get white you cut away the black. For different shades you cut different depths. Some artist also paint over this with a translucent paint and the scratch away again for more depth. If you get a chance to see a scratchboard art exhibit you should try to go. You are sure to be pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail and realism the artist can achieve.
